Wedding Jewellery – First Steps

In the excitement that comes with an engagement and a impeding marriage, sometimes finding the perfect wedding jewellery at an attractive cost gets lost in the shuffle. Couples spend so much time getting ready for the wedding, making sure the proposal is perfect, that they fail to do their homework on what to look for in their rings.

It’s important to begin looking for wedding rings long before you are getting married. The storefronts that you see when you shop will try to entice you with the latest trends that celebrities have been wearing, and they come with exorbitant price tags.

Typically the best advice to give to someone who is just getting started looking for wedding rings, is to shop for the woman first. Her ring choice comes with many more options, and it’s much easier to match the man’s wedding ring with the woman’s than the other way around. A woman has to decide how much her finance can afford when it comes to a diamond. Once she has a size of the diamond picked out, she can move onto the setting and then the material of the band itself. Wedding Jewellery can take some time to find the best choice.

The last few years have seen a huge change in men’s wedding rings. Now that titanium and tungsten have become more popular, most men are flocking to these new styles. They are more masculine and they are much more durable for a man’s lifestyle. A titanium ring has the advantage of a tungsten ring simply because it is lighter. They are both extremely durable. Then you usually get a set of either silver or gold in the middle of the metal ring to match the women’s.

Finding the perfect matching ring set could take some time. Wedding Jewellery is a very important symbolic connection to your relationship.

Handmade Beaded Jewelry – The Perfect Gift

If you’re looking for the perfect gift, you might not find it — so why not make it yourself? Handmade beaded jewellery is an easy and inexpensive gift — and fun for givers and receivers.

Make it Anytime
Making it yourself means you can make it at the time that works best for you. This is especially helpful when it’s 11:00 at night and you realize that you need a gift — for the next day! It’s easy to pull out some beads and make something special, even when all the stores have been closed for hours.

Personalize It
It can be hard to decide on the right gift when nothing seems quite right. There’s no better way to personalize a gift then by making it yourself. When you design beaded jewellery for your friends, you can design it with their favourite colours, style, and wardrobe in mind. And if you’re giving clothing as a gift, you can make matching jewellery to go with it.

Match Maker
Once you have one piece designed, you can easily make a set. And you can make exactly what your friend likes, instead of buying a lot of extra stuff just to get the one thing she’ll wear.

Jewellery That Matches Everything…Even Your Wallet
Glass beads come in a wide range of prices, so you’re sure to find something that works for your budget. You can also find beautiful but inexpensive acrylic beads. Or if you want to spend more, you can go with semi-precious stones or crystals. Since you’re making it yourself, it is easy to keep things inexpensive and spend just as much as you want to.

Perfect Fit
Since you’ve made the jewelry yourself, you also have the power to change it. If your friend tries on the piece and finds that it doesn’t quite fit, you can easily adjust it.
I’ve even given my friends unfinished bracelets — after she takes it out of the box, I measure her wrist and finish it for her.

Give Me Something to Talk About
A gift of handmade jewelry makes a great conversation piece, especially at parties. As soon as you say “I made it myself”, people will ask you how you made it, where you got the beads, and how you came up with such great ideas.

It Just Means More:
Perhaps the best reason to make jewellery as a gift is the added meaning attached to it. In this age when everything is pre-packaged and mass manufactured, your friends will appreciate you taking the time to make something by hand, just for them.

How to Care for Tungsten Jewelry

If you own a piece of tungsten jewelry, whether it’s a bracelet, a necklace, or a ring, then you’re not alone. A lot of people today are opting to buy tungsten jewelry instead of the usual gold and silver, largely because tungsten is one of the strongest, hardest metals used in making jewellery today. If you’ve got a piece made from tungsten, you can expect it to stay polished and in pristine shape far longer than your gold and silver items.

Tungsten is virtually indestructible, but in order to keep your accessories looking attractive you might want to learn how to keep it nice and clean – the better to show off its beautiful design and high polish.

In order to clean a piece of tungsten, it is important to keep in mind that it may simply be a bit dirty from ordinary wear. After all, jewellery can pick up some of the dirt, sweat, and oil that’s present on your skin. Because tungsten can react to some of the chemicals in ordinary jewellery cleaners, refrain from using these. To remove ordinary dirt, simply use a little mild detergent or hand soap to clean your tungsten accessory.

Sometimes, however, your ring will still retain a small amount of tarnish. To get rid of this, ask your dealer for a good brand of specialty tarnish remover that is safe to use on tungsten. When cleaning off the tarnish, make sure that you only use a very minimal amount on the tip of a cotton bud or applicator.

After applying the chemical tarnish remover, buff the metal with a piece of cloth. This will restore the shine to your piece of jewellery. After buffing, soak the item in mild, soapy water and rinse with warm water afterwards. Dry it with an absorbent cloth, and afterwards, your tungsten accessory should be as good as new.

To make sure that small jewellery items like rings do not get lost by accident, be sure to put the stopper in the drain while you’re soaping and rinsing them. Avoid using ultrasonic jewellery cleaners as these could cause invisible cracks in the body of your jewellery.

Of course, you should also keep your tungsten jewelry away from harsh chemicals. Substances like bleach or ammonia could harm the piece, so make sure that you take off your rings and bracelets made from tungsten whenever you do some serious cleaning.
